Our Story

Our Journey Begins

In June 2021, our founder, Isaiah Jackman, embarked on a transformative global adventure that would lay the foundation for No Replica Bags. Leaving behind the familiar landscapes of the West Coast of the United States, they ventured to Barranquilla, Colombia, driven by a desire to deepen their fluency in Spanish and experience another culture.

During this three-month journey, our founder immersed themselves in the vibrant culture of Barranquilla, forming meaningful connections with locals and discovering the city’s bustling artisan markets. It was here that Isaiah encountered a unique and captivating type of bag known as the mochila wayuu. These hand-crocheted bags, traditionally worn by Colombians for both everyday tasks and special occasions, were a revelation. They were not merely accessories but representations of a rich cultural heritage and artisanal skill.

As Isaiah engaged with these artisans and observed their craft, a profound observation took root: the meticulous craftsmanship and originality of handmade textiles were significantly undervalued, particularly in the United States. While western mainstream fashion often showcases materials like leather and mass-produced prints, the intricate weaves and vibrant patterns of handmade textiles remained largely unrecognized.

No Replica Bags began with a simple realization: every community around the world carries its own textile technique and story. Inspired by the beauty of these handmade creations, we set out to celebrate and honor the craftsmanship of Black, Brown, and Indigenous artisans. Our mission is to transform textiles into modern and sustainable handbags and accessories that highlight tradition, originality, and sustainability.
